Patsy Selby has been vice president for finance and administrative services for the WSU Foundation since February 2000. She has responsibility for departments that include technology, accounting and finance, investments, human resources, research and donor records, and facilities. During her tenure, net assets have increased by more than $100 million.
Recognized for her work at the Foundation, Patsy was a recipient of the Wichita Business Journal 2011 CFO Awards. Among her achievements have been conducting a search for and hiring an investment consultant for the Foundation’s endowed portfolio, meeting required research and regulatory rules for all endowed funds, and converting the Foundation’s donor, accounting and payroll software to Blackbaud products.
Before arriving at the Foundation, Patsy worked for 22 years in various capacities with Multimedia Cablevision in Wichita. She was vice president for programming and corporate administration when she left in 2000 to take the Foundation position.
Patsy has two bachelor’s degrees from Wichita State University, one in English and the other in business with an emphasis in accounting.
Patsy sits on the finance committee for the Wichita YWCA and previously was on the organization’s board. She also is treasurer of the WSU Women’s Association. Patsy previously served on the board of Diversity Kansas.
When she’s not working, Patsy enjoys exercising and attending live concerts featuring music and entertainment from many different genres. She and her husband, John, who also is a WSU graduate both share a love for WSU men's and women's basketball and are season ticket holders. They also live in Wichita.
For Patsy, working at the foundation has been like coming full circle back to Wichita State after earning her degrees here. She feels rewarded every time she sees the appreciation on the faces of students who receive the scholarships she helps manage.
