Areas of Greatest Need | 2014
University Libraries are made up of three departments:
- Ablah Library
- McKinley Chemistry Library
- Thurlow Lieurance Memorial Music Library
A number of endowments support various subject areas, but there is a crucial need for more, specifically in the area of scholarly collections (one-time purchases of large book and digital collections), library materials to support student success activities (including rental of textbooks) and library materials to support new campus research initiatives or new academic programs. Joint partnerships with individual college's fundraising priorities will be appropriate.
Money for general support critical to the success of the University Libraries is expected to make up the remainder of priorities that are not necessarily currently envisioned by the University Libraries and Foundation leadership in the detailed format as the priorities listed above.
Named Facilities Enhancement(s)
Several areas of the Ablah Library are in need of remodeling or re-purposing for evolving student needs.
Several positions have potential for supplemental funds through the Faculty of Distinction program, including Special Collections, Digital Collections and Dean of University Libraries.
Opportunities for replacement of aging technologies and implementation of emerging technologies to manage library systems and digital content in the future.
