Establish a scholarship or fellowship

There are several options when deciding upon the purpose of your gift. In addition to selecting the type of recipient, you can designate an area of the university close to your heart and when your contribution will begin helping. Your gift can provide immediate or long-term support. For more details, please continue reading.

Funds can be established for immediate or long-term use. See the chart below for gift options and minimum gift requirements.

• Current: The entire balance of the fund is available for immediate use. Once the balance is exhausted, the fund is closed.
• Endowed: The intention of an endowed fund is that it continues providing support in perpetuity. Once endowed, these funds make annual distributions of 4.25 percent of the five-year rolling average of the fund balance to the program of the donor's choice. Endowed funds provide long-term financial support.

Gifts created can support students, faculty, staff and programs.

• You can establish scholarships, which provide support for undergraduate students. The minimum amount required to establish an endowed scholarship is $25,000 and $2,500 to create a current scholarship.
• You can create a graduate fellowship. To establish an endowed fellowship, the minimum required is $25,000. The minimum amount required to create a current fellowship is $5,000.
• By establishing a graduate assistantship, you can provide the recipient an annual salary for the work performed in his or her academic unit. To establish an endowed graduate assistantship, the minimum gift is $25,000. The minimum amount for a current graduate assistantship is $5,000.
• You may contribute to faculty and staff support funds, which enable the university to attract and retain talented faculty and staff. These funds may supplement the state-supported salary or provide professional development opportunities.
• You may support specific programs of the university.
