Since the launch of the Promise for the Future campaign, we have been publishing the thoughts of our cabinet members regarding planned giving, WSU and their personal philanthropic philosophies.
To learn about the campaign, co-chaired by Cindy ’77, ’85 and Barry Schwan, read the cover story of the 2010 Summer Horizon.
Chris Shank '69, client advocate for Willis of Greater Kansas Inc. and member of the Promise for the Future campaign cabinet
My family’s Shocker history dates back to my great-grandfather, who was a charter member of the Fairmount College Board of Trustees. He certainly was a key influence for me to attend WSU and also to give back.
Establishing a scholarship through my estate was my way to support WSU, a place where I was so engaged and rewarded with a memorable college experience — both academically and socially. It is a lasting gift and a personal one. If others would make a planned gift to WSU, generations of students will benefit.
I’m proud of my alma mater and through my connections and commitments, I hope to do what I can to further the reach of WSU and its impact on our community and beyond.
