V. Jerry Blue Scholarship/Fellowship in Entrepreneurship

Mr. Jerry Blue earned his accounting degree in 1959 from the University of Wichita. Mr. Blue’s initial business experience was selling oil field equipment for a large steel company. He soon realized that he did not fit into a corporate structure where he felt his point of view went unappreciated. In 1964, he went to work at his father’s hearing aid business before starting All American Mold Laboratories Inc. Mr. Blue once estimated that he had started or purchased 15 businesses, including the National Baseball Congress. Eventually, he got into the banking business. He took over, and turned around, Twin Lakes Bank & Trust and Southwest National Bank. Through all of this, Mr. Blue continued to stay connected to WSU. He was a life member of the Alumni Association and the President’s Club. He established the V. Jerry Blue Scholarship/Fellowship in Entrepreneurship on the 25th anniversary of his own graduation. He said, ‘I do hope these scholarships will help many deserving students further their careers, and that they each will come to understand and appreciate the value offered to them through a quality education from a great university such as WSU.’ Mr. Blue died in 2014. The scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the W. Frank Barton School of Business, in the department of entrepreneurship.
