Al and Dolly Nagel Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Al and Dolly Nagel met while working at Gambles, an appliance and furniture store, in Leoti, Kan., in 1962. They married and after moving to Wichita, Kan., in 1967, they owned several apartment complexes including Twin Rivers and Kingston Cove. Although neither attended Wichita State University, they were regular attendees at baseball and basketball games, eventually becoming season ticket holders. When Mr. Nagel passed away in 1998, Mrs. Nagel established a scholarship in his memory to be awarded each year on August 16, his birthday. The scholarship was created for students who are members of the Shocker baseball team. In 2004, Mrs. Nagel passed away and the fund was aptly renamed the Al and Dolly Nagel Memorial Endowed Scholarship in recognition of their generous support of Shocker athletics.
