Aleta and Marvin Gile Endowed Piano Scholarship

Aleta Gile was passionate about her relationship with Wichita State University. She was employed as the administrative assistant to the dean of WSU’s College of Engineering for 35 years. Upon retirement, Mrs. Gile and her husband, Marvin, enjoyed traveling, attending Shocker basketball games and gardening. Mr. Gile was a vice president of marketing for United Instruments. Music was always an important part of the Gile household. Mr. Gile had a natural talent for playing the piano, a hobby he enjoyed until his death in 2007. He taught himself to play and could show this talent through pieces from composers like Chopin, Bach and Beethoven. Mr. Gile spent hours playing scales, learning the fingering and reading about the piano. The couple enjoyed singing and in their earlier years, they sang with the Wichita Community Chorus. Mrs. Gile showed her love for WSU students and her passion for music through the Aleta and Marvin Gile Endowed Piano Scholarship.
