Alfred S. and Esther U. Perry Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Fine Arts
Esther Perry was originally from Chanute, Kansas, where she attended the Chanute Business College before moving to Wichita. Her husband, Alfred, a violinist in his early years, was controller and secretary at the Coleman Company. Together they raised Standard Poodles for show. An independent and well-read woman, Mrs. Perry believed in the benefit of education. She enrolled in several classes at Wichita University and later assisted her great nieces and nephews financially when they attended WSU. In 2001, through her estate, the Alfred S. and Esther U. Perry Endowed Memorial Scholarship in Fine Arts was established. This investment in the future of the university and its students arose from their combined passion for the fine arts and education.
