Audrey Needles was a part of numerous theater organizations and joined the faculty at Wichita State University in 1965. She was a director at Cowtown, Music Theatre of Wichita and the Wichita Summer Theatre. She directed nearly 200 productions in her time spent at WSU and in Colorado, New York, New Mexico and Georgia, where she taught at Mercer University for eleven years.
Ms. Needles was a member of the American Association of University Professors, Association of Kansas Theatre, Kansas Speech Communication Association and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
She was a member of the WSU Women’s Association and Benders of Twigs. She retired as emeritus professor in 1990, after 25 years at WSU and established this scholarship. She died in 2013.
