Dale and Leona Alley Endowed Scholarship
Dr. Robert Alley worked in the department of curriculum and instruction at Wichita State University for 33 years. As department chair and associate dean, he helped introduce progressive initiatives that provided students important learning opportunities in the classroom. Dr. Alley did much to ensure the effective operation of programs and was known for his ability to help students understand the relevance and practical application of theory. In 2001, he was granted Professor Emeritus status upon retirement.
Dr. Alley established the Dale and Leona Alley Endowed Scholarship in 1980 in honor of his parents. Through their scholarship, both Dr. Alley and his wife, Shirley, have shown great interest and faith in the university. Mrs. Alley is a 1978 WSU graduate with a master’s in secondary education.
