Lois H. & Harry L. Hobson Political Science Internship Fund

Harry L. Hobson earned his degree in political science from the University of Wichita in 1951, graduating magna cum laude. While attending WU, he was a member of the Student Government Association, and president of both the political science club and student council. He earned a law degree from New York University-School of Law, worked as a law clerk for United States Supreme Court Justice Tom Clark, and went on to a successful career as a corporate trial attorney.

From 1957-1959, he was an instructor at WU, teaching speech and political science. Mr. Hobson also assisted in the legal work needed for the transition of the University of Wichita to Wichita State University.

One of the original life members of the WSU Alumni Association, he also served as its president in 1962. Grateful to WSU for providing him with a good background for a legal education, he and his wife, Lois, established the Lois H. and Harry L. Hobson Political Science Internship Fund in 1998. This fund provides stipends for students serving as interns in Washington, D.C. or Topeka, Kansas. Through their internship, the late Mr. and Mrs. Hobson continue to provide valuable experience for students.
