Xavier McDaniel Professional Development Fund for Minority Faculty in LAS

Xavier McDaniel earned his associates degree in social sciences in 1986 and his bachelor’s in general studies in 1987 from Wichita State University. The former All-American basketball player set the NCAA record for individual team scorer and rebounding while at WSU, earning him a place in the Shocker Hall of Fame. Known as the ‘X-man he was named to the NBA All Rookie Team. The former player for the Seattle Sonics, Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns continues his assists off the court by supporting the Literacy Volunteers of America-Wichita, and running youth summer basketball camps.

An advocate for creating professional opportunities for minorities, he established the Xavier McDaniel Professional Development Fund for Minority Faculty in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Through this fund, Mr. McDaniel’s legacy continues both on and off the court.
