THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE HOLIDAY CARD SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Thank you to everyone who once again helped make the Holiday Card Scholarship Fund such a success. So far, we’ve had 19 donors to the fund for $794 – this is significant because it’s nearly triple the number of donors and more than triple the dollars the program raised all of last year. Below is a listing of some of this year’s contributors (please note…while the holidays are the perfect time for us to promote the scholarship, you may contribute to the fund at any time). Thank you to everyone for continuing to champion this wonderful cause!

Holiday Card Scholarship fund needs your support
Dear WSU Faculty & Staff:
Please join me in making a gift to the Holiday Card Scholarship Fund. This long-standing WSU tradition was established in the early 1960’s by the late Dr. Nicholas Pronko, professor emeritus of psychology. Dr. Pronko realized that if members of the university community contributed a portion of the money they normally spend on sending each other holiday cards, deserving students could receive scholarships. The endowed fund, created as a result of his realization, awards scholarships annually to full- or part-time students based on financial need. This school year, four WSU students received scholarships of $1,000 or more. Contributing to the Holiday Card Scholarship Fund is easy! Simply complete the pledge form and return it with your donation to the WSU Foundation Annual Giving Office, 1845 Fairmount Campus Box 2, Wichita, KS 67260. Or, to make your gift online click the “Donate Now” button at the top right-hand corner of this page (or go to https://wichita.edu/give) and select “Holiday Card Scholarship Fund” as the college/program of your choice and decide what amount you would like to give. Click “Add Donation” and after filling out your payment information, you are all done – quick and easy!
As a supporter of the Holiday Card Scholarship Fund, your name will be listed in a group holiday message on this page. One question that has already come up quite a bit is in relation to how much people normally spend on holiday cards. That obviously varies quite a bit from one person to the next, so the best answer we can give is to tell you what we have been able to track all the way back to 1987. Since then, we have received more than 3,400 gifts for this fund totaling over $80,000 – which means that the average gift from you and your colleagues over the years is just over $23. That may or may not be what you typically spend on holiday cards, but we have received anywhere from a few dollars all the way up to $1,000 – so you truly cannot go wrong no matter what you decide to give.
Though it may have been a while since you heard much about this wonderful holiday tradition, we sincerely hope you will consider being a part of the excitement this year. With your support, we can continue to award scholarships to deserving students. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com or by calling 316-978-3803. Thank you for your support and have a happy holiday season!
