Shock the World Campaign
In This Issue

The WSU Foundation and its campus partners are more than halfway through the seven-year Shock the World campaign to raise $250 million for Wichita State University.

Much has been accomplished, thanks to alumni and friends who have given gifts of all sizes to advance the campaign.

With about 65 percent of the total campaign goal already raised, this is a good time to take stock of our successes as well as the challenges still ahead of us. And it’s a good time to encourage everyone who loves Wichita State to consider what they can do to make sure their university stands strong, for generations to come.

  • Undergraduate endowed scholarships. More than 75 percent complete for most academic areas. The Shock the World campaign seeks to increase scholarship aid by 80 percent.
  • Honors College support. Goal reached, thanks to a generous gift from Dorothy and Bill Cohen, for whom the college has been named.
  • Experiential Engineering Building. About two-thirds of the $10 million goal has been raised for the new facility on the Innovation Campus.

  • Renovation of Charles Koch Arena and new Wichita State Athletics Student Center. More than 74 percent of the fundraising goal has been reached.
  • Eck Stadium renovation. More than 39 percent has been raised.

A new home for the W. Frank Barton School of Business on the WSU Innovation Campus is a top priority of the Shock the World campaign. About half of the $56 million cost will be raised through private funds.

  • New facility housing the W. Frank Barton School of Business. The new complex, to be located on the Innovation Campus, is pivotal to WSU’s goal to attract top-tier students to contribute to the economic vitality of our region. Fundraising goal: $28 million.
  • Professorships and Chairs. Wichita State is only as strong as its faculty. The strongest tool WSU has to recruit exemplary professors is by offering distinguished chair and professorship positions to them. These posts come with greater resources to enable research, professional growth and scholarly endeavors – activities that bring national distinction to a university. Fundraising goal: $13.5 million.

The Shock the World campaign is a strategy to help Wichita State fulfill its vast potential. Become a part of Shocker history by supporting it.
