Justus Fugate was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser at the National Philanthropy Day event on Friday, Nov. 13, sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Wichita Chapter. Fugate leads by example, financially supporting scholarships at WSU in addition to several other areas across campus. This made him an inspiration as he helped fundraise as a member of the WSU Foundation’s Promise for the Future campaign, which concluded in 2012. His service was instrumental in assisting to surpass the goal of securing 100 planned gifts during the two-year period. Other campus interests of Fugate include the Foundation’s Annual Fund for Excellence in which he helped acquire new equipment and furnishings for the student calling center in addition to being the callers’ cheer leader, taking a personal interest in their progress and successes. He also supports WSU Music Associates, the Student Ambassadors program and Delta Upsilon Fraternity, and has contributed to the building of the Marcus Welcome Center and the president’s home renovation.

In addition, Fugate is a member of the Foundation’s National Advisory Council and has formerly served on the WSU Foundation Board of Directors, several of its committees and the WSU Alumni Association Board of Directors.

In 2010, Fugate was honored with the WSU Board of Trustees’ Award and became a life member of the WSU Foundation Fairmount Society, its highest giving club.

Botanica and other local organizations have received similar support, dedication and action from Fugate. His imprint can be found at every turn and the impact abounds throughout the Wichita community.
