Strengthen your future & the future of Wichita State University

Martin Perline came to Wichita State in 1965 and has been on the faculty of the W. Frank Barton School of Business ever since. I first came to know him in 1977 when, as a sophomore, I took Principles of Macroeconomics from him. My grade and the counsel of Dr. Perline helped me realize that I was not to be a business major (at least not until an MBA in midlife).

Dr. Perline also offered his advice to many of us as the faculty advisor for the Delta Upsilon fraternity. More than 50 years after his arrival at WSU, Dr. Perline has a legacy of thousands of former students who learnedfrom him the principles of economics and, in some cases, broader life lessons. I now call Marty a colleague and appreciate the friendship I have with him and his wife, Donna.

In addition to Marty’s many years of service, he and Donna have invested in WSU as donors, supporting 59 funds with hundreds of gifts. In 2011 and again in 2015, Marty and Donna chose to use a charitable gift annuity to make their gifts.
"Not only does the annuity provide a guaranteed high rate of return, we were assured that after we were deceased, any remaining funds in the annuity would go to the Foundation to provide for student scholarships." — Marty Perline

A charitable gift annuity is a simple agreement between you and the WSU Foundation. In return for a gift of cash or another asset, such as stock, you (and someone else, if you choose) receive fixed payments for life. At the end of the lives of the annuitants, the remainder of the annuity is directed to the WSU program of their choice.

A WSU Foundation charitable gift annuity provides you with:

  • Fixed payments for life at attractive rates.
  • A charitable income tax deduction.
  • Elimination of a portion of the capital gains tax when funded with appreciated property.
  • Satisfaction in supporting the WSU students, faculty or programs of your choice.
Annuity Rates
The WSU Foundation follows the rates recommended by the American Council on Gift Annuities. As you can see in the chart below, the older the annuitant(s), the higher the annuity payment rate.
