2016 Fairmount Society Celebration honored top supporters

About 230 guests were welcomed by WSU Foundation President and CEO Elizabeth King the evening of May 5 to the 2016 Fairmount Society Celebration at the Wichita Marriott.

Sixteen new members were honored for reaching the lifetime milestone in the Fairmount Society. They have given from $250,000 to $1 million or more during their lifetimes. There also were 39 annual members recognized who have given a minimum of $20,000 during the fiscal year.

Marilyn Pauly, chair of the WSU Foundation Board of Directors, presented the 2016 Fairmount Founders’ Award to Donna and Bill Ard. John Tomblin was acknowledged by Sheryl Wohlford, chair of the WSU Board of Trustees, as the 2016 Board of Trustees’ Award recipient. Videos demonstrating the good works of both award winners were shown.

Amy Baker Schwiethale, associate professor of musical theatre, introduced members of the WSU School of Performing Arts who entertained guests with selections from the musical “Chicago.”

King also provided an update on the comprehensive campaign and WSU President John Bardo apprised guests of new happenings on the campus.
