Shock The World Campaign
On October 5, the WSU Foundation and its campus partners kicked off the public phase of a seven-year campaign to raise $250 million for the people, places and programs that are the essence of Wichita State University.

Under the banner of Student Centered-Innovation Driven, the Foundation pledged its support for WSU President John Bardo’s vision for an Innovation University that will build the next era of distinction at Wichita State.

As WSU takes a giant step forward as the Innovation University, the support of alumni, friends and partners is essential. Your investment signifies a belief that Wichita State can continue to grow and lead. That it can inspire its students and faculty through education and discovery. That it will defy expectations, push boundaries and Shock the World.

Investing in People

For our students — Scholarships and fellowships strengthen the Innovation University by attracting exceptional students and making Wichita State more affordable, accessible and inclusive. They show that Wichita State is ready to invest in students whose creativity and entrepreneurial drive bring incalculable value to our mission. Our campaign seeks to increase by 80 percent the awards made annually to students from all walks of life, in every academic discipline.

For our faculty— Endowing new chairs and professorships will enable Wichita State to compete aggressively for faculty whose intellectual and creative pursuits will enhance the prosperity of our region, inspire student achievement and improve the quality of life both on and off campus. Supporting faculty by helping them grow, learn and conduct research will provide an extraordinary educational experience for WSU students.

Investing in Places

New home for the W. Frank Barton School of Business — Located on the WSU Innovation Campus, this 143,000-square-foot complex will feature breakout areas to encourage teamwork and knowledge sharing among students. Faculty offices will be intermixed to provide collaboration among academic specialties. Technologically up-to-date, the facility will replicate today’s real-world business environment. An Innovation Center will be built adjacent to the new business school facility.

Advanced-technology labs in the new Experiential Engineering Building — Also on the Innovation Campus, the Experiential Engineering Building will open in spring 2017 with 25 labs dedicated to providing hands-on learning experiences to aspiring engineers and computer scientists.

Ideas Lab in Henrion Hall — One of Wichita State’s most historic buildings also will be one of its most technologically advanced when Henrion Hall becomes home to the WSU Ideas Lab, a place for innovation and creative discovery. The renovated Henrion Hall will continue to house spaces for metalworking, woodworking, ceramics, sculpture and graphic design.

Enhanced athletic facilities — Charles Koch Arena will be renovated to keep pace with the growth and success of Shocker athletics. Highlights will be a new Wichita State Athletics Student Center and renovation of office space to reflect the legacy of our sports programs. At Eck Stadium, the final phase of a project to create one of the most impressive college baseball venues in the country will be completed.

Investing in Programs

Wichita State’s commitment to applied learning means providing programs that fully immerse students in their fields of study. That means connecting students with internships and co-op experiences. It means offering affordable and abundant opportunities for study abroad. And it means distinctive programs that emphasize research, discovery, creative expression and personal growth.
