The Wichita State University Foundation recently added a new member to the staff, Megan Smith, who was named the development director for the College of Engineering.

She received her Bachelor of Science in speech communication with a minor in business from Baker University in 2007.

Smith’s past experiences include working in the Baker University Office of Advancement, and most recently at the Washburn University Foundation, where she was the director of communications and annual giving.

After recently relocating to the Wichita area with her husband, Smith said she is excited for the opportunity to be part of the Foundation staff.

“Coming from a background in higher educating fundraising, I wanted to continue my work in the non-profit field,” Smith said. “I was seeking a highly regarded, forward-thinking organization and the WSU Foundation and its staff demonstrate these traits.”

Smith said she is aware of the strong base of support for the College of Engineering at WSU and is excited to further that growth.

“I look forward to the opportunity to expand private gifts while partnering with the college, alumni and corporations. I hope to increase the visibility of the College of Engineering and WSU as a whole by connecting a donor’s interests and passion with the priorities of the school.”
