WSU Foundation hosts Advanced Education in General Dentistry grand opening

AEGD Ribbon Cutting

A vision that began years ago became a reality on Oct. 24, 2011, when a dedication and grand opening celebration was held for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) building located at 2838 N. Oliver St.

Cutting the celebratory “floss” (above, l-r) were Peter Cohen, WSU College of Health Professions dean; Dexter Woods, AEGD program director; Linda Brantner, Delta Dental of Kansas president and CEO; Ed McKechnie, Kansas Board of Regents chair; WSU President Don Beggs; and WSU Foundation President and CEO Elizabeth King.

“The completion of the AEGD facility may close one chapter in the story about dental education in Kansas,” said King, “but this is a story that will continually unfold as we extend the program to serve more needs in our community and the communities across Kansas.”

When the facility has been operational for a year, university leadership will apply to extend the curriculum to a two-year program. With accreditation, future second-year residents will rotate to clinical sites throughout Kansas.
