With more than 30 years of experience in various financial roles, Susan Barrett oversees the financial administration of the WSU Foundation and the performance of its investment portfolio.
Susan, who came to the Foundation in 2016, is a certified public accountant and a chartered global management accountant. She received a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Emporia State University.
Her most recent work experience includes five years as an executive director at Spirit AeroSystems. Prior to that she held executive roles with Hawker Beechcraft, Raytheon, Tru-Circle Aerospace, Inc., and Stellex Precision Machining, Inc.
Susan’s strengths in strategic planning and financial analysis serve to enhance the WSU Foundation’s ability to achieve its goals. She is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s financial resources, the integrity of its systems, the performance of its investment portfolio and all fiscal and accounting functions, as well as records management and compliance with donor intent.
Susan has been active in her community, serving as a member of the board of directors of the YWCA, as treasurer for the board of directors of Wichita Habitat for Humanity and as past treasurer of University Congregational Church. She also is past president of the board of directors of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance, Wichita chapter. She is a member of the Accounting Advisory Board at Emporia State University and the Business Career Services Employer Advisory Council at the University of Kansas.
