Donor generosity far surpasses WSU Foundation’s fundraising goals
Supporters of Wichita State University gave $63.1 million in the 2022 fiscal year ending on June 30, making it the second highest fundraising year in history. These gifts include cash, gifts-in-kind, pledges, received estates and new planned gift commitments, all of which contribute significantly to the future of the university.
The WSU Foundation team traveled across the country for more than 1,800 donor visits to share giving opportunities and areas of need at the university. On their own, Elizabeth King, president and CEO of the WSU Foundation, and Rick Muma, president of WSU, logged more than 20,000 air miles to connect with our supporters.
“We are so grateful for our donors and their continued trust in Wichita State and commitment to advancing the university,” said King. “There are so many exciting things on the horizon as WSU continues to grow and serve the Wichita community, and the enthusiastic support for our mission is such a valued endorsement.”
The top fundraising priorities for the fiscal year were need-based scholarships and the Shocker Success Center, reflections of the university’s commitment to being an accessible and affordable institution of higher education. More than $19.7 million was donated and pledged toward these areas.
“The students of Wichita State have always been our top priority, and our donors truly recognize the importance of providing financial and holistic support to help them be successful,” said King. “The Shocker Success Center will be an incredible hub of services in the heart of campus, and we know it will provide the resources that make a difference in a student’s ability to complete their degree.”
