Giving Wu Week
Each April, the WSU Foundation hosts Giving Wu Week – a celebration of generosity that invites the entire WSU community to give back. During this week, which runs from April 19-25, the WSU Foundation invites alumni, faculty and staff, community partners and friends to donate to an academic college of their choice through a gift to the Shocker Fund. Giving Wu Week is designed to bring Shocker Nation together to reflect on the progress the university has made and to give philanthropically to benefit current students.
Always, but especially during Giving Wu Week, gifts of all sizes come together to make a significant impact on students and the university. That’s what inspired Kiana Jackson, a recent graduate from the College of Fine Arts and former student caller for the Shocker Fund phone-a-thon, to give back. “Wichita State was the best education I could have hoped for,” she said. “I’m inspired to give to the Shocker Fund because I know my gift is helping fellow music majors.”
Gifts to the Shocker Fund are flexible and used to meet the important – yet sometimes overlooked – needs of students, including specialized equipment, access to conferences and speakers, scholarships and more. This means more students, especially those overcoming barriers, have access to resources that improve their quality of education and college experience.
When Shockers join together in support of Wichita State, big things happen. We invite you to participate in Giving Wu Week next month by making a gift and spreading the word. More details on how to participate and make your gift will be found in your inbox, on the WSU Foundation’s website and social media pages.
