Give to the Shocker Rowing Team

During the past 50 years, Shocker Rowing has been making waves in Kansas and across the nation. Each year the team builds on the tradition of the past while striving for new heights.

Rowing at Wichita State University is an independent varsity sport, offering opportunities to WSU Students on recreational, developmental, and championship levels.

Your generous gift will support scholarships, equipment, travel, training and competition costs for the team.

Available Memorial Funds:
  • The Don L. and Lee A. Wadsworth Crew Team Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student(s) on the WSU Rowing Team. Don L. Wadsworth (’79) rowed in the WSU Crew Program from 1976 to 1979. He graduated from WSU with a Bachelors of Science in mathematics. Don was a member of the WSU Novice 8 that defeated Yale, and the Varsity 8 that finished third in the prestigious Head of the Charles. Don continued rowing after graduation, and was instrumental in its growth on the Little Arkansas River in Wichita. Don and his wife, Lee, have continued to support the sport of rowing at WSU and Wichita.
  • The Angela Johnson Memorial Crew Endowed Scholarship is awarded annually to two students, one male and one female on the WSU Rowing team. Angela Lynn Johnson never knew a stranger. As a student of Wichita State University, she was a four-year rower for the WSU Crew Team and was actively involved with the Upward Bound Math and Science program. Sadly, Angela was killed in a car accident in June 2010. She was a remarkable young woman who loved life, was a proud Shocker and a treasured member of the WSU Crew Team. Angela’s mother, Jo Ann Megill, along with memorial contributions, established the Angela Johnson Memorial Crew Scholarship to honor Angela’s legacy at WSU.
  • The Mark Dold Memorial Scholarship/Fellowship is awarded annually to a member(s) of the WSU Rowing Team. Mark Dold was a member of the WSU Crew Team for 1976 to 1979.
