Nearly 200 people attended this year’s Scholarship Celebration at Wichita State, an annual event honoring those who have established scholarships and giving them a chance to get acquainted with their recipients.
This year, guests listened to the personal stories of two scholarship recipients, Maddie Spurlock and Erick Cruz, who also emceed the event. WSU Interim President Rick Muma and Elizabeth King, WSU Foundation president and CEO, also spoke. The WSU Foundation sponsors the Scholarship Celebration.
The event this year was held outdoors, on the east lawn of the Rhatigan Student Center, to help address COVID concerns. Two sessions were held to accommodate smaller audiences at each and to enhance social distancing. A student flute trio called C Dorian provided musical entertainment.
