Congratulations on receiving a scholarship! We’re thrilled that this financial support will enhance your experience at Wichita State University.
Did you know your scholarship was made possible by a generous donor who believes in your potential? They’ve invested in your academic and personal journey, and you can show your appreciation by writing a thank-you letter!
Here are a few tips for your letter:
Be personal. Will this gift allow you to work fewer jobs and focus on your schoolwork? Pursue a passion project? Be the first in your family to finish college? Whatever it is, you have a story to share. So, share it!
Be original. If you’re receiving more than one scholarship (look at you go!), write a thank-you note for each scholarship you’re receiving. And remember, if your scholarship renews each year, try to avoid repeating the same information you shared with your donor last year. Whether it’s an impactful class, a study abroad opportunity or a heartwarming moment from your personal life, update your donor on how their giving has impacted you!
Be sincere. It’s a big deal to secure a scholarship, and you have every reason to be excited. Share that excitement with your donor!
Be specific. Remember, campus is always changing, and there’s a chance your donor hasn’t visited in a while. Try to avoid using slang and jargon, spell out acronyms, and explain yourself thoroughly when sharing about degree programs, clubs and departments.
