On the Hill
A century ago, Fairmount College students looking east from the small scattering of campus buildings dominated by Fairmount Hall would have seen an expansive prairie landscape — almost treeless and open to the sky. A decade ago, Wichita State students might have taken a break from coursework to play a round of golf on the university’s tree-shaded Braeburn Golf Course. Today, this eastern sector of WSU’s main campus houses 27 facilities, a mix of retail and public/private/industry partnership buildings that collectively offer opportunities as wide open as that original view from atop Fairmount Hill.
