Adrease C. Confer was a lifelong Wichitan who believed in the power of education. Born in 1935, she graduated from Wichita East high school, then attended what was then Wichita University, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught sixth, seventh and eighth graders during her teaching career, all of it in Wichita. Her children, David Confer and Cindy Coldiron, established this scholarship in her memory so that the educational torch might be passed to a new generation of teachers. Mrs. Confer died in 2016.
