Angela Johnson Memorial Crew Scholarship

Born March 12, 1986, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Angela Lynn Johnson never knew a stranger. A graduate of Lincoln High School, she was known for her smile and her contagious laughter. As a student at Wichita State University, she was a four-year rower for the WSU Crew team and was actively involved with the Upward Bound Math and Science program, both as a student and an advisor/mentor. In 2009, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, but continued to volunteer as an assistant crew coach and remained as a program assistant for the Upward Bound Math and Science program.

Sadly, Angela was killed in a car accident in June 2010. She was a remarkable young woman who loved life, was a proud Shocker and a treasured member of the WSU Crew team. Angela’s mother, Jo Ann Megill, with the help of memorial contributions, established the Angela Johnson Memorial Crew Scholarship to honor Angela’s legacy at Wichita State. The scholarship is awarded each year to a male student and a female student who are members of the crew team.
