Ashok and Trish Bajaj Memorial Scholarship and Fellowship

On February 16, 2008, Dr. Ashok Bajaj and his wife, Mrs. Trish Bajaj, died tragically when their twin-engine plane crashed shortly after takeoff. Their families established a memorial in their name, which created the Ashok and Trish Bajaj Memorial Scholarship and Fellowship.

Dr. Bajaj was born in India in 1958, moving to Wichita with his family in 1968. In 1978, he earned his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from WSU, later graduating from the KU Medical School. Dr. Bajaj was a founding member of Heartland Cardiology and was the first to perform ablation therapy for heart arrhythmias in Wichita, which is a procedure that disconnects the pathway of the abnormal rhythm. Additionally, he founded Bajaj Electrophysiology.

Mrs. Bajaj was born in Wichita in 1957. She attended WSU briefly, earning her bachelor’s in language from the University of Kansas. A passionate teacher and linguist, she taught Russian and German, as well as English as a second language. Mrs. Bajaj was a master gardener and was active in the Sedgwick County Extension Office.
