Barbara R. Sobernheim Scholarship

Mrs. Sobernheim graduated from Wichita University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in the 1940s. Born and raised in Wichita, she moved with her husband, Rudolf, to the Washington, D.C. area. She earned a master’s degree in social work from Catholic University of America, and she worked for several years for the National Association of Social Workers. Mrs. Sobernheim died in 2014 at the age of 92. She left Wichita State University a gift in her estate to endow this scholarship for promising students in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
