Beck Excellence in Communications Award Endowed Fund
Clark Beck Jr. graduated from the University of Wichita in 1954 with a degree in aeronautical engineering. A distinguished military graduate, from 1954-56, he served as first lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He began a long career with the Boeing Company following his service with the USAF. While at Boeing he returned to WU to earn his master’s in aeronautical engineering, graduating in 1961. Included in the Boeing Company Apollo/Saturn Roll of Honor for distinguished participation in the first U.S. manned lunar landing, Mr. Beck would retire as senior engineer from Boeing Aerospace and Electronics.
Although he and his wife Evalea reside in Seattle, Mr. Beck is ever mindful of his ties to WSU. In 2004, he established the Beck Excellence in Communications Award Endowed Fund, which is awarded at the College of Engineering annual open house. Mr. Beck views the award as, ‘one way to assist engineering students in continually advancing and improving their communication skills.’
