Beta Theta Pi Endowed Scholarship
In 2003, a fund-raising campaign was initiated to provide scholarships and resources for the WSU chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. The campaign effort was led by alumnus, Bruce Schreck (’70), and joined by Jim Mann (’56) who kicked off the campaign by offering a matching gift challenge. It was the largest scholarship fund-raiser by any Greek organization at WSU and the first for the Beta’s.
Bruce Schreck, managing partner of Schreck Financial Group, wanted to attract future pledges while assisting active members, believing that fraternity involvement ‘enhances college life.’ Mr. Schreck, former member of SASO Board of Directors, currently serves on the Foundation’s National Advisory Council and Planned Giving Council.
Mr. Mann, former chair, president and CEO of SunGard Systems Inc., one of the largest computer service and software firms, is a member of the National Advisory Council. A recipient of the President’s Medal in 2001, he served on the ‘We are Wichita State’ campaign cabinet and the Foundation Board of Directors.
