From the Santa Fe Trail to Civil War battlegrounds and all throughout Europe, Donna and Bill Ard, partner and co-founder of Security Storage Properties, have traveled to and studied their fair share of history over the years. You can t judge the future if you don t know your history, explained Mrs. Ard. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ard are Wichita State University alumni, having earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology ( 64) and anthropology and sociology ( 73) respectively.
In 2001, the Ards began supporting the history department at WSU. They both feel strongly that history promotes a better understanding of our times and is a necessary component for any area of study. They hope that their scholarship will inspire a history education that encourages objectivity in addition to providing financial relief for students. The Ards also enjoy giving to a department that does not receive a lot of attention.
In addition to financial support, they have donated much time to the university. Mr. Ard serves on the WSU Foundation’s National Advisory Council, was a member of the Foundation Board of Directors and both he and his wife are WSU Alumni Association Life members.
