Bob and Darlene Anderson General Athletic Scholarship

Robert and Darlene Anderson were longtime supporters of Wichita State University and Shocker athletics. Advocates for the return of the WSU football program, they hoped to revive the glory days of pep rallies, tailgating and homecoming.  They established the Wichita State University Football Endowed Scholarship in 1998 in hopes that alumni and other football advocates would follow their lead. Two of their sons were WSU football players, walk-ons during the 1970s, and have football scholarships established in their honor. Dr. Robert Anderson was a WSU faculty member in education. Mrs. Anderson was a nurse with the Wichita Public School District. She earned her master’s in education from WSU in 1972. Mrs. Anderson died in 2014 and Dr. Anderson in 2015. Together, they created a lasting legacy at WSU, securing the future of Shocker athletics.
