Bob Long/Vince Lombardi Endowed Scholarship Fund

Mr. Bob Long, a former wide receiver for the University of Wichita, starred on three Green Bay Packers championship teams. Because of Mr. Long’s past association with Mr. Lombardi, this scholarship is the only one allowed by the Lombardi family to carry the name of the late coach.

Mr. Long played four seasons for the Packers after his graduation from WU in 1964. He was a member of the Packer’s National Football League title teams in 1965, 66 and 67. He also helped Green Bay to Super Bowl victories in 1967 and 1968. He rejoined Mr. Lombardi with the Washington Redskins in 1969 and became the only player to have been coached by Mr. Lombardi in both Green Bay and Washington.

Mr. Long is a member of the Shocker, Kansas and Pennsylvania halls of fame. He is a life member of the Alumni Association and he served on the Foundation’s Board of Governors from 1986 to 1993.
