Boeing Endowed Professorship Faculty of Distinction

The Boeing Company was founded by William E. Boeing and established in Wichita, Kan., in 1929 with the absorption of Stearman Aircraft Company. The Stearman Company was originally founded by American aviator and Kansan, Lloyd Stearman, in 1927. Boeing, the world’s leading aerospace company and largest combined manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft, is headquartered in Chicago, Ill. The company consists of four business units: Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, Boeing Capital Corp. and Connexion by Boeing. Although the Wichita-based Boeing commercial airplane facility was acquired by Spirit AeroSystems in 2005, Wichita is still home to the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. Despite the change, Boeing continues its ‘commitment to the communities in which it operates.’ Boeing recognizes the importance of attracting and recognizing faculty excellence, and through donations to Wichita State University, has established the Boeing Endowed Professorship Faculty of Distinction.
