Boulton Miller Endowed Scholarship in Business/MIS
Dr. Boulton Bainbridge Miller, a World War II veteran, spent time in Alaska overseeing road and pipeline projects and at the Pentagon working on American support for war bonds and for the war in the Pacific. He received his bachelor’s and master’s from George Washington University and his doctorate degree from American University. He taught at George Washington University and the Naval Academy.
Dr. Miller also was an entrepreneur who owned a self-publishing company in Illinois called Bainbridge Inc. It was during this time that he met Dr. Nick Chini, who was relocating to Illinois with a company with the name identical to Dr. Miller’s company. Mr. Chini got in touch with Dr. Miller and they became friends. Since Dr. Miller was retiring from business, he made the name available for Mr. Chini’s company to use. Dr. Miller and Mr. Chini enjoyed a great friendship over the years.
The Boulton Miller Endowed Scholarship in Business/MIS was established by Mr. Nick Chini to honor Dr. Miller for his mentorship, and for the work he did for Mr. Chini’s company. Dr. Miller wants to use this scholarship to encourage students to become information management scholars. Recipients are students pursuing a MIS degree in the W. Frank Barton School of Business.
