Brandy Long Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Brandy Walpole Long, a former student at Wichita State University and a traffic investigator with the Wichita Police Department, died in 1995. Her family and friends donated funds to WSU for a scholarship in her memory. Mrs. Long’s husband, John, and her father, Willard F. Walpole Jr., used those contributions to establish the scholarship as a permanent endowment. Mr. Long is a 1995 WSU alumnus with a degree in electrical engineering technology. Mr. Walpole is a graduate of WSU as well, and has established scholarships in both his mother’s and father’s names. Brandy loved Wichita State and thrived in the Criminal Justice field of work. Her father was a Sergeant on the Wichita Police Department when she started as a clerk in the Records Section there. She was quickly promoted to investigator in the Traffic Section. Award priority for the Brandy Long Memorial Endowed Scholarship is given to employees of the Wichita Police Department and their dependents.
