Brenda Farha Fellowship in Opera

Brenda Farha Fellowship in Opera

Brenda grew up in Wichita and, through the years, developed a strong appreciation for Wichita State University. She has served the university in various capacities, including on the WSU Board of Trustees, holding the post of president from 1990-91. She also sits on the WSU Foundation’s National Advisory Council. She has been recognized as a Fairmount Society Lifetime Distinction Member, signifying extraordinary philanthropic support of Wichita State.

Opera has always been one of Brenda’s greatest passions. She and her late husband, George, were among a group of donors in 2012 who helped bring renowned opera singer Samuel Ramey to WSU through the creation of a guest artist-in-residence program in the College of Fine Arts. They also established the George and Brenda Farha Endowed Fellowship in Opera. The Brenda Farha Fellowship in Opera was created in Brenda’s honor by her four daughters: Gayle Malone, Joan M. Farha, Laura Farha and Julie Farha. It is awarded annually to a graduate student studying in the opera program.
