Brian Luinstra Memorial Athletic Training Endowed Scholarship

Humorous, loyal, professional and great man are the words friends used to describe Mr. Brian Luinstra, a former assistant athletic trainer at Wichita State University. Mr. Luinstra got a Master of Education degree from WSU. He majored in sports administration. Mr. Luinstra worked as an assistant athletic trainer from 1994-1999 before taking a similar position at Oklahoma State University.

Mr. Luinstra was among the 10 members of the Oklahoma State University men s basketball team who tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in January 2001.

The scholarship, which was created by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Luinstra and his family in Mr. Luinstra s memory, is awarded annually to a student who is enrolled full-time at WSU and works as a student athletic trainer.
