Mark Dold Memorial Endowed Crew Fund

Wichita State University’s Shocker Rowing team was established in 1975 with the help of several members of the Wichita Yale Alumni club, including Thomas Kitch, Rob Wilkins, Howard C. Wilkins, Howard Wilkins Jr. and John Frazier. Also known as the WSU Crew Team, the university’s rowing team has gained national attention over the years with a victory over Yale in 1976, a 1981 Dad Vail Championship, and various regional and national placings.

Mark Dold was a member of the WSU Crew Team from 1976 to 1979. As a student, Mr. Dold was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Business Honor Society and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1981. Following graduation, he was commissioned in the U.S. Navy. In his 20 years of service, Mr. Dold served in the Far East, Central Asia, Africa and Iraq. Following his military career, he worked in various occupations including construction general contractor, secondary school administrator, owner-operator of Skyhawk Air Charter Service, and state trooper in the Colorado State Highway Patrol.

Mr. Dold died in 2007 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was married to Ann Christian-Dold and had three children, Scott, Kyle and Seth. His former team members, friends and family established the Mark Dold Memorial Endowed Crew Fund to honor his memory. Funds are used for supplies, maintenance and improvements for the WSU Crew facilities and equipment.
