Richard D. Muma and Rick A. Case Equality Scholarship/Fellowship
Dr. Richard Muma, the fifteenth president of Wichita State, has served the university in several capacities over more than 20 years, including time as a professor of public health sciences, provost and interim president of the university. He also is former chair of the Public Health Sciences and Physician Assistant departments at WSU. His partner, Mr. Rick Case, is district director for the Farm Service Agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
They established the Richard D. Muma and Rick A. Case Equality Scholarship in 2011 to support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning students, believing these students are often overlooked. They want to encourage these students not to hide, and to know that others care about them. The scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student, with a preference for students who are active in a campus organization that supports the LGBTQ community.
