The Support Fund for Excellence in Debate was established with seed money by Quincalee Brown, Bob Shields and Lee Thompson. Brown was the coach of the 1986 WSU debate team, of which Shields and Thompson were both members. The team won the National Intercollegiate Championship, which has been held annually since 1947.
The fund has been enhanced by former WSU debaters to permanently escalate the capacity of the WSU debate program. Funds are used to support the activities of the WSU debate program.
