The George Fahnestock Endowed Baseball Scholarship Fund

Mr. George Fahnestock went into the heating and air business to become a third- generation Wichita heating and cooling contractor in his family owned business.

An alumnus of Wichita State University, Mr. Fahnestock earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1969. He was a former board president of the Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization and served on the Alumni Association among others. His service to the university and community was extensive, making him known widely as an active volunteer. The charities he was involved with included the Girls and Boys Club, The Lords Dinner and many others. He won several awards and honors including the 2007 Brotherhood and Sisterhood award. His business was voted as one of the 2007 five best businesses in Wichita.

Mr. Fahnestock died in 2010. He was married to Dee Anne Fahnestock and they had three children. Mr. Fahnestock established The George Fahnestock Endowed Baseball Scholarship Fund to assist students who are members of the Shocker baseball team with which he has very close connections. His belief was that one has to possess honesty, integrity and good moral values in whatever one is committed to make it in life.
