The Nygaard Family College of Health Professions Endowed Fellowship

David and Laverna Nygaard lived in Newton, Kan. In addition to 30 years working at Bank IV, David served in the United States Navy in both the Vietnam and Gulf wars. During the Gulf war, Mr. Nygaard was injured and sent to Oakland Naval Hospital where he met an aide interested in physical therapy schools. As she searched through brochures, she became excited about available scholarships at Wichita State University. After finding the Nygaard name on the scholarship list, Mr. Nygaard eventually owned up to his identity and relationship with the scholarship. Seeing the impact of their scholarship across the country strengthened the Nygaards’ belief in making the world a little better for everyone.
