Tony & Cathy Durano Endowed Scholarship

In 1985, Tony and Cathy Durano graduated from Wichita State University with degrees in geology and elementary education, respectively. Following graduation, Mr. Durano became an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance in Andover. In 1995, Mrs. Durano returned to WSU, earned a master’s in education administration and supervision and taught school for 10 years. After spending the next several years at home following the births of their children, she returned to teaching at Cottonwood Elementary School in Andover. Meanwhile, Mr. Durano continued his services with State Farm as a chartered life underwriter and chartered financial consultant. The Duranos have contributed multiple gifts to WSU, some being matched by State Farm. ‘It’s amazing how even a small amount of money can become ‘Äî lasting said Mrs. Durano. Through their giving, the Duranos made possible the scholarship for elementary education majors needing financial support. ‘We want to impact WSU now said Mrs. Durano, ‘and after I’m gone.’
