Twentieth Century Club Endowed Music Scholarship Fund
The Twentieth Century Club is a cultural, educational, social and philanthropic organization benefiting the women of Wichita. The club was founded in 1899 by Mrs. Louise Caldwell Murdock, as Wichita transformed into a city and into the 20th century.
Over the next 109 years, the Twentieth Century Club has made a definite impact on the women of Wichita and the city itself. The membership influenced city leaders on many topics, such as judicial and penal reform, improvement in the Wichita school system, city beautification, zoning and the women’s suffrage movement. The club survived and grew through Wichita’s growing pains, the Great Depression and many wars. During this time, the club members continued to contribute to the Wichita community through projects such as the Twentieth Century Club Civic Theatre, art exhibits, concerts and national speakers. It also lent support to Girl Scouts, YWCA, American Red Cross and educational organizations.
