Upward Bound ‘ Wichita Prep Scholarship

The Wichita Prep Program has been provides the motivation and basic skills instruction necessary for youth to successfully pursue and complete post-secondary education.

Reflecting mutual appreciation of life opportunities made available through post-secondary education in their lives and communities, as well as commitment to help provide such opportunities for others, WSU alumnus Kevin Clark and his wife, Andrea, Hutchinson Community College alumna, established the Upward Bound/Wichita Prep Endowed Scholarship at WSU in 2009.

In his senior year at WSU, Mr. Clark was chosen by his peers as one of 10 Senior Honor Men and Women. He completed his bachelor’s degree in management in 1984. Since graduation, Mr. Clark has worked and continued significant community service in Wichita and Hutchinson, his wife’s life-long home. In 1998, he was recognized for his civic involvement by Intrust Bank when he was given their ‘Citizen of the Year’ award.

Mrs. Clark began her 25-year career in nursing at the age of 19, when she earned her certified nurse aid credentials. In 1993, she completed the registered nursing program at Hutchinson Community College and, ultimately, earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Tabor College in 2010. Annually, Mrs. Clark, a tenured HCC faculty member, trains more than 150 students in institutionally- and community-based classes to become certified nurse aides, medication aides, and home health aides in various areas extended and specialized care facilities in south central Kansas.
