Women of Wichita State University Scholarship/Fellowship
The WSU Women’s Association was originally formed as the Faculty Wives Club in 1928 by Mrs. H. W. Foght, wife of University of Wichita President Harold Foght. In 1972, the organization became the WSU Dames and amended their bylaws to allow women faculty of the university to become members. In 2001, the organization changed its name to the WSU Women’s Association. The Council of University Women (CUW) was organized in 1930. Its purpose was to raise scholarship funds for female students while fostering fellowship and friendliness among female faculty and professional staff. In 1977, they modified their constitution to include all female employees.
The WSU Women’s Association and CUW merged July 1, 2018, and formed the organization known as Women of Wichita State University (WWSU). WWSU continues to serve the interests of Wichita State by providing student scholarships and promoting member involvement and university interaction. The Women of Wichita State University Scholarship/Fellowship is intended to benefit non-traditional female students.
